Ahhh, Magic Hat Number 9 on draft, how I love it on a hot day. And the Copper Penny has it. Along with a lot of other good beers on draft or by the bottle. The wine list... meh... but it's a pub. Here again, I'll confess to never having been to the UK, so I've no idea how authentic a pub it is, but it works for me. It's a noisy, jostling joint most of the time, with wooden booths and tall tables with stools and televisions blaring and a bar with a steady clientele. So it's got atmosphere. The food is good, basic pub grub. Burgers, fries, fish and chips, and a prime au jus sandwich (one night a week, as I recollect). All of it is just simple and good. Burgers are juicy, fries are crisp, and their little asian cole slaw side is one of Phillip's favorites. He keeps asking me to make it at home. And I should do that when I can go downtown and have an inexpensive dinner I didn't have to cook at the Copper Penny why, exactly?
We like lunch and casual dinner there. It's especially convenient for grabbing a bite before heading to Thalian for a show or Cinematique. Or when a burger you didn't make and a cold beer is what you need.

I enjoy the fish and chips with a pint of beer at the Copper Penny. They have a great pub atmosphere and the service has always been efficient and friendly. I have some friends who lived downtown last winter and said they have some fantastic drink specials at night. My friend got hooked on the million dollar coffee until she looked up how many calories where in it. But it is a great coffee drink!
This is the coolest bar downtown by far. Someone is always there to greet you at the door, the food is consistant and there are tons of beers to choose from! This place is awesome! If you haven't been, you need to get out there fast!
Love this place! Their cole slaw is one of my absolute favorites. Fish and chips, onion rings and Chestnut chicken sandwich - super!
